Unlike traditional paper cups, produced from polyethlyene-coated paper cup stock, which are difficult for recyclers to process, the reCUP™ levarages EarthCoating© barrier technology and may be processed through existing paper recycling streams without any need for special handling or additonal equipment.
The reCUP™ is a recyclable paper cup that can be reclaimed and turned into recycled paperboard. Industry adoption of the reCUP™ has the potential to avoid sending over 50 billion paper cups worth of valuable paperboard to U.S. landfills each year. This alone, can potentially solve two-thirds of the one-million ton fiber shortfall projected by the recycled paper industry for the year 2020.
