Printpack: Polyolefin shrink label aids recycling

The EcoSkin family of products from Printpack consists of various materials in a substrate designed specifically to separate itself after the grinding process by floating to the top of water, allowing recyclers to skim the label off of the top of the water while retaining good quality PETG plastic at the bottom, ready for recycling.

Sample properties of one such substrate has a density below 0.97, 94-98% removal in IR sorting, up to 60% shrink, and a cost comparable to PETG.

EcoSkin’s density-specific gravity of less than 1.0, allows it to float during the separation process.  This reduces potential contamination and allows for the optimum collection of recyclable plastic.
In addition to insuring compatibility with recycling, EcoSkin offers several sustainability benefits including source reduction and a lower environmental footprint, without compromising performance or increased material cost.

With a shrink percentage of 60%, EcoSkin conforms to a broad range of container shapes and sizes.  It also features quality performance in printing and high-speed application.
