Technical Help in Engineering and Marketing (T.H.E.M.), best known in the U.S. market for Sanko Stick Packaging, is nearing completion on a 20,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to non-food contract packaging. Expected to be operational in October 2016, it is located in Mt. Laurel, NJ, near the company's Marlton, NJ headquarters. The facility will feature production of patented Snapsil snap-to-open packaging along with a variety of single-dose, easy-open packaging formats.
The expansion is a response “to the growing demand for innovative non-food, flexible packaging solutions,” said Neil Kozarsky, CEO and President of T.H.E.M. The co-pack facility will support single-use packaging formats for categories including household, automotive, industrial, lawn and garden, adhesive and similar products.
Noting “steady growth and interest” in single-use flexible packaging solutions for non-food applications, Tom Martin, T.H.E.M.’s VP and Contract Packaging General Manager, added the company will support “both domestic and global brands with evaluation, test marketing, initial production scale-up, and full-scale contract manufacturing and packaging.”
Snapsil is the ‘centerpiece’
T.H.E.M.has additional packaging technologies and partnerships to facilitate a cost-effective, sustainable solutions, but Snapsil easy-open portion pack technology, developed by Australian-based Snapsil Corp., is the “centerpiece” of the Mt. Laurel facility, the company reports. T.H.E.M. was among the companies to introduce this technology to North American-based consumer packaged goods (CPG) customers. (Snapsil technology partnerships have also included Multivac, Bemis, Klöckner Pentaplast, Visy, and Sealed Air according to this Packaging World report from interpack 2014 in Düsseldorf, Germany.) Snapsil semi-rigid containers have a patented, audible “snap-opening” function that allows consumers to open the package with one hand. Snapsil offers multiple dispensing designs, enabling simple and controlled product release for a variety of unit-dose and single-serve consumer products.
