Two chambers are better than one

A compelling dual-chamber design for Unilever Home & Personal Care's new Dove Nutrium body wash makes for more than just an eye-catching bottle. According to the company, separating the body wash (white chamber) from the moisturizer (pink chamber) maximizes the benefits of the two formulas.

It's not just a packaging gimmick. If the two formulas were mixed together in one container, they would be diluted, says the company. The lather on the body wash wouldn't be quite as frothy, and the lotion wouldn't be as moisturizing. Consumers open the flip-top cap and squeeze both chambers at the same time. Product is dispensed through two separate openings. Dove group brand manager Peter Waxman calls Nutrium "an innovation in the body wash category. It's the first body wash packaged in a dual-chamber delivery system that allows the cleanser and body lotion to each deliver maximum benefits." Unilever would not disclose packaging specifications on the bottle, which became available nationwide in mid-February. The 8-oz bottle retails for $4.99, the 12-oz for $6.99.
