'Oxygen-restrictive packaging' part of FDA warning

The FDA has issued a warning to Cloud’s Food Service of Longview, TX, citing public health violations found by inspectors over the summer.

Serious seafood violations were among the issues cited by FDA in its November 12 letter to CFS Operating Limited. The letter was released publicly December 1 on FDA's Web site. The violations include failure to implement a HAACP plan for the company’s tuna salad sandwiches. In addition, says the Longview News-Journal, “oxygen-restrictive packaging did not adequately prevent the growth of botulinum and toxin formation.”
