Rules & Regs: EU proposed mandatory allergen labeling
The European Commission has proposed to amend its food labeling rules to require mandatory labeling of allergens including cereals containing gluten and products based on cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, and products based on crustaceans, egg and egg products, fish and fish products, peanuts and peanut-based products, soya and soya-based products, milk and milk products (including lactose), tree nuts and nut products, sesame seeds and sesame seed products, and sulphite in concentrations of more than 10 mg/kg.

Global Beverage Systems: Tray packing for bottled water line
On this bottled water line, following automatic lane dividers, bottles are collated and tray packed on equipment from Vantage Pak. Pressure-sensitive print-and-apply labelers from Loveshaw apply product ID and date code to each side of the tray before it enters an Arpac shrink wrapper. Then an incline conveyor takes finished trays to a remote palletizer.

On this extended shelf life bottling line for dairy products, an unscrambler uprights bottles that are drawn from three huge storage silos. Later, a system of paddles and chutes turns two lanes into 12 lanes that lead directly into the ESL filling/lidding system from Stork Food & Dairy Systems.
