Suntory has run the process in Japan since 2018 and will bring it to Thailand in 2028, where incoming bottle quality varies more than the Japanese stream it was designed around.

The brand owner's flake-to-preform process has run in Japan since 2018 on the nation's unusually clean supply of collected bottles. But in Thailand, where incoming quality is far more variable, Suntory reordered the process to make it work. Production starts in 2028 at roughly 400 million preforms a year.
