Nordson Corporation’s Swainsboro, GA facility receives Presidential Award for Exports

Nordson Corporation’s Swainsboro, GA facility is the recipient of the President’s “E” Award for Exports, presented to them by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. earlier this year.

The “E” Awards are the highest recognition any U.S. entity may receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

“Since its founding in 1954, Nordson has grown successfully by taking a global approach to its business,” said Chris Brooks, Nordson Director of Engineering and Operations. “In 2013, approximately 70% of Nordson’s $1.5 billion sales were outside of the United States. Exports are an important part of our global strategy and help supplement our local in-country manufacturing, assembly and service activities around the world to support our customers at the highest levels.”

“The Nordson Swainsboro plant has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The “E” awards Committee was very impressed with the Nordson plant’s customization of products for export markets. The company’s employment expansion of almost 200 percent in its Swainsboro facility, thanks in part to exports, was also particularly impressive. Nordson’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs,” said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to Nordson announcing its selection as an award recipient.

The Swainsboro, GA plant employs nearly 150 people and is part of Nordson’s Adhesive Dispensing Systems segment, which engineers, manufactures and markets equipment for precision adhesive dispensing for packaging, product assembly and nonwovens markets, and polymer processing equipment for plastic extrusion and injection molding markets.

U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Award for Exports through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service office network, located within the Department’s International Trade Administration, which has offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries to help U.S. exporters. A total of 66 U.S. companies were presented with the President’s “E” Award this year.
