German machine builder Somic Verpackungsmaschinen opens office in US

Somic, end-of-line packaging machine manufacturer for the food, confectionery, pharmaceutical, and pet food sectors, is expanding its presence in the North American market with the launch of a sister company in the United States: Somic America, Inc. has established an office in Bensenville, IL.

The office, which opened this spring, will be the company’s sales and service hub in the North American market.

“Our North American business has been growing steadily over the past several years so establishing a physical presence in the United States is very important to serve our current and new customers.” said Peter Schulenberg, Chief Sales Officer, providing the rationale for the new location.  “This office will allow us to be more responsive to the needs of the North American packaging sector.”

SOMIC is well-known for its compact, ultra-flexible end of line packaging system. The SOMIC line also includes modular stand-alone machines, designed to be combined to form packaging lines.

Their precise machine configuration is determined by customers' package requirements, their industry, and specific individual products. All SOMIC machines are based on the mechatronic SOMIC 424 Modular System.
