Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA), in partnership with Enterprise Minnesota and LifeScience Alley, the Tekne Awards honor companies and individuals who have demonstrated superior technology innovation and leadership in Minnesota.
MTS was honored for its latest advancement in the shipping of temperature sensitive medical materials - the Credo Cube™. Designed to be the most scalable thermal container on the market, the Credo Cube offers the pharmaceutical and biologics industries an alternative to inefficient and expensive traditional shipping methods. The 100 percent reusable cube ensures safe transport of temperature-sensitive medical and bio-tech products by maintaining thermal protection for up to seven days, the longest-duration thermal protection in the industry.
“The Tekne Award is an important recognition of our accomplishments in advancing the science of cold chain shipping,” said Tom Anderson, chief executive officer at MTS. “Our products not only set the pace for technological innovation in temperature controlled shipping of vaccines and other medical products, but most importantly, they also save lives. Knowing this is the most rewarding part of what we do.”
The 2009 Tekne Award recipients represent global and regional companies that have positively impacted the quality of life in Minnesota and throughout the world. MTS was selected from among the best and brightest in development, education, commercialization and management of technology.
“Over the past 10 years, we have seen the quality and originality of each entry improve. This year’s winners are no exception in setting outstanding examples of innovation and leadership,” said Kate Rubin, president, MHTA. “Minnesota Thermal Science impressed the judges in how it is helping to secure Minnesota’s place as a center of innovation in the global economy.”
