Robotics orders drop

According to the Robotic Industries Assn. (Ann Arbor, MI), North American robotics manufacturers saw orders decline by 32% during the first nine months of 2001.

Shipments through September totaled 6껛 robots valued at $520 million, a 31% decline in units and 37% in dollars compared to the same period in 2000. “An upturn was in sight before September 11, but the terrorism capped it off before it could gain strength,” said Donald Vincent, RIA’s executive vice president.
