MSU to sponsor career fair, conference

Manufacturers looking to hire packaging professionals for full-time or internship positions will be able to meet hundreds of packaging majors at Career Fair 2002. Hosted by Michigan State University’s School of Packaging, the fair is scheduled January 10-11 at the school’s Kellogg Banquet and Conference Center in East Lansing, MI.

Last year, more than 75 United States employers and 260 MSU students attended. For more information, contact Peggy Nuerenberg at 517/353-6797. Separately, the school will present Worldpak 2002, June 23-28, 2002. Also in East Lansing, this international conference will mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the School of Packaging. Expected to draw up to 800 people, it will be held in cooperation with the International Assn. of Packaging Research Institutes. Keynote addresses will be given by leading packaging experts, with presentations made by industry professionals and representatives of research institutes. The MSU Museum will feature “A story of packaging,” while technical sessions, factory visits, and tours of the packaging school are also scheduled. Coca-Cola, General Mills, Kellogg, Smurfit-Stone, and Packaging World are among the current Worldpak 2002 sponsors. To register online, visit www.msu.edu/~sop and go to the Worldpak 2002 page. (JB)
