Spirited package

Introduced in late '97, new Aromatherapy Healing Spirits cologne spray is packaged in a unique secondary package designed to correspond with the "mood elevation" theme of the product.

"The bottle looks like it's actually floating inside the package" says Sharon Christie founder of New York-based California Fragrance Co.

Christie designed a 18-pt clear polyvinyl chloride partition with a die-cut that allows it to be folded in such a way that it suspends the 3.4-oz bottle about an inch from both the carton bottom and top. Printex Packaging (Hauppauge NY) supplies the partition as well as the 12-pt matte PVC folding carton in which the partition and cologne reside. The carton is screen-printed in three colors to produce a translucent cloud effect. Text is screen-printed in an additional black ink.

The Healing Spirits name also appears in braille "to reinforce the multisensory effects of the product" says Christie. Printex embosses the braille text which was approved by the New York Lighthouse for the Blind and the Braille Institute.

Healing Spirits is sold nationally in "alternative channels" such as herbal shops spas and some select department stores. Suggested retail price is $35.
