A recent EuroNews article discussed new technology that can predict the possible onset of Alzheimer’s disease with near perfect accuracy. The deep learning-based method was developed by Lithuanian researchers while analyzing functional MRI images. It employs Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning to analyze brain images, searching for changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Not only is the new method faster than manual analysis, it also performs better in terms of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity than traditional methods. The algorithm that drives the technology can be developed into software that can analyze data from those at risk of Alzheimer’s, resulting in earlier detection, and better treatment options.
