NatureWorks™ PLA from Cargill Dow (Minnetonka, MN) is a family of polymers that is derived entirely from renewable resources and is said to biodegrade in municipal and industrial composting facilities.

Can be used in a variety of packaging applications, including flexible films as well as rigid containers such as the milk bottle prototype shown here. The material molds into detail as well as or better than PET, says the manufacturer.
