Produced by James River (Cincinnati, OH) for The Solaris Group of San Ramon, CA, the standup pouch is made of a multilayer 7.5-mil composite film that consists of reverse-printed polyester, metallized polyester and linear low-density polyethylene. The pouches are considered the first application of what James River calls Doyn-style (Doy-pack) pouches with zipper reclosures for this package size and category (see PW, March '95, p.34). FPA has presented the Top Packaging Awards annually since 1956. Packages are judged for product protection, environmental features, convenience, innovation, marketing and design, and processing and handling.
