New hook reclosure for dried fruit pack

Mariani Packing Co. of Vacaville, CA, has introduced Touch Lock, a micro-hook closure system that allows consumers to simply touch to lock and close their bag of dried fruit.

The Mariani brand is not new to packaging innovation. In 1989 the firm launched the first stand-up gusseted bag with a resealable zipper. Keeping in step with efforts of continuous improvement, Mariani’s Touch Lock packaging provides an easier resealable solution.

“Consumers get frustrated when traditional resealable zippers don’t close upon first try,” says Mariani’s Joe Flannigan, vice president sales and marketing. “Alignment has to be just right to work properly. When this doesn’t happen, it makes for an unhappy consumer and ultimately the brand experience with that consumer can be compromised.”

Aplix, the manufacturer of the micro-hook closure system, has granted Mariani U.S. exclusivity on usage for an undisclosed period of time.
