Euro mandates

On November 12 the Holiday Inn Chicago City Centre is the scene for Coping with European packaging mandates. This workshop (general admission is $580) is organized by Raymond Communications Inc., publishers of Recycling Laws Intl., and co-sponsored by E-Tech Products, Inc., and Longview Fibre Co. Presenting detailed solutions will be the world's top experts on compliance and packaging take-back mandates.

The workshop features Mike Coe, a British consultant who designed the database and compliance program for Unilever in Europe. Speaking in the U.S. for the first time, Coe will present Coping with European packaging mandates-the basics. He'll provide details on dealing with each European country, with tips on packaging design for Europe's highly regulated market.

Also speaking will be Christopher Vanderstricht of Price Waterhouse Coopers in Brussels, Belgium. He'll present Belgium: Understanding recycling mandates where regions rule. Victor Bell, a 20-year veteran of recycling policy and implementation, will present The nuts and bolts of meeting worldwide environmental packaging requirements.

Coping with Europe's Recycling Laws-a medical manufacturer's view will be presented by Randy Haviland, Johnson & Johnson Worldwide. Finishing out the workshop is Tom Warda, president of E-Tech Products Inc. His subject: Cushioning for Europe: How to save on fees.
