Pro Mach acquires Pacific Packaging Machinery

Pro Mach expands filling and capping capabilities with the acquisition of Pacific Packaging Machinery.

Pro Mach, the global integrated packaging solutions provider, acquired California-based Pacific Packaging Machinery, San Clemente, Calif., a manufacturer of light to viscous rotary and inline filling and capping solutions.

Pacific and its Pack West division bring new filling and capping capabilities to Pro Mach that allow it to better serve food, pharmaceutical, personal care, home care, and chemical customers who produce light to viscous products or want a lower capacity inline solution. Pacific joins Pro Mach’s filling and capping brands Federal and Zalkin, and pharmaceutical filling and capping solutions from NJM Packaging. All together, the brands contribute to the more than 15,000 machines installed around the world.

“We’re pleased to welcome the outstanding Pacific Packaging team,” says Mark Anderson, president and CEO, Pro Mach. “Pacific Packaging and Pro Mach bring together a great deal of experience in manufacturing high quality filling and capping solutions and supporting the world’s leading food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods companies. Their solutions complement our existing strengths in filling our customer’s rigid and flexible packages and expand our ability to be a one-stop shop for integrated solutions across the entire packaging line.”

Pacific Packaging, founded in 1962, provides high-speed rotary filling and capping equipment for a range of applications and manufacturers in 40 countries. The company specializes in filling solutions for aerosol, pourable, and non-pourable viscous and semi-viscous products. Pacific fillers routinely handle product viscosities ranging from thin substances such as alcohol and water to thick substances such as peanut butter and caulk.

Pacific’s Pack West division specializes in inline liquid filling and capping solutions for a wide range of products of different viscosities. The inline filling and capping systems set the industry standard for JIB (jug-in-a-box), pail, and retail applications.

Pete Carpino, president of Pacific Packaging, will join Pro Mach as vice president and general manager, reporting to Pro Mach’s Bottling & Capping Group Senior Vice President, Doug Stambaugh. Pro Mach will continue to invest in Pacific’s team, brands, and facilities to take advantage of potential product synergies and accelerate growth in key markets.

“We look forward to working with the Pacific team to create new opportunities to grow our business and serve our customers around the world,” Stambaugh says. “We share a common approach to building long term relationships with customers based on trust and service, as well as delivering high quality equipment that provides decades of performance and value. Additionally, Pacific substantially broadens our filling capabilities with their strong presence and expertise in the food and consumer care sectors. Combined with our already strong market presence in beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical, we now have a truly complete line of global filling and capping solutions.”
