PLASTIC TO DOMINATE CONTAINER DEMAND

Plastic Containers, a new 265-page study from Cleveland-based industrial research firm The Freedonia Group, forecasts United States plastic container production to rise more than 4% annually to 13.7 billion lb by 2006.

Bottles will register the strongest growth, after accounting for nearly 80% of the plastic container market last year. Plastic pails are forecast to climb as well. By 2006, the $3꼀 study says PET will displace HDPE as the leading container resin. For more information, call 440/684-9600, or visit www.freedoniagroup.com.
