Gold Winning gold in Pet & Vet was O. Berk Co. (Union, NJ) for a 1-gal high-density polyethylene bottle used by Hoechst Roussel Veterinary Products Co. of Warren, NJ, for Safe-Guard Beef & Dairy Cattle Dewormer. The container has two handles. A bottom handle is designed to hook onto the farmer's belt, leaving him with one hand free to hold the upper handle while the other hand operates the spray and moves the bottle into the desired position for use. Silver O. Berk also scooped up the silver award in this category for glass bottles containing perfume used on dogs. Called Les Pooch Fragrance, the perfumes are marketed by a division of de Pravel Intl., Tuxedo, NY. Eau de Parfum for males utilizes a 50-mL Club bottle with a spray pump, black overcap and black ceramic decoration. Fragrance for female dogs comes in a 50-mL glass Clock bottle that's frosted for an elegant look and smooth feel. It's topped with a gold overcap on a spray pump. Bronze Winning the bronze award in Pet & Vet was Packaging West (Aurora, CO) for a wide-mouth jar used by Qualis, Inc., of Des Moines, IA, for Udder Balm. The 16-oz container is made of HDPE. A paper label, pump dispenser and threaded closure complete the package.
