Eastman Chemical Company: MDPE coating resins

EASTACOAT resins from Eastman Chemical (Kingsport, TN) are medium-density polyethylenes for extrusion-coating applications. The materials are said to form a strong bond to polyethyleneimine-primed substrates, including polyester and nylon films, without the need for supplementary ozonation.

Suitable for bag-in-box and other applications requiring toughness. Offer high gloss and contain no additives or corrosive modifiers, which is said to be advantageous in non-continuous extrusion-coating operations. Coatings as thin as 5 lb/ream can be applied at laminator speeds in excess of 800 fpm.
