Labeling Systems, powered by Pro Mach, is introducing at Pack Expo the new Series 22, a two color print and apply labeler. The system includes two print engines, one with a black ribbon and the second with a red ribbon. Both printheads on this system print at the same time, and start at the beginning of the loop of labels, eliminating the need to print one color at a time as well as limiting waste.
The system is primarily used in track and trace applications where it is required to have two colors on the outside of packaging of certain goods. The Series 22 also allows packagers to conform to the GHS – or Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. The GHS is a worldwide initiative to promote standard criteria for classifying chemicals according to their health, physical and environmental hazards. It uses pictograms, hazard statements, and the signal words “Danger” and “Warning” to communicate hazard information on product labels and safety data sheets in a logical and comprehensive way. The primary goal of GHS is better protection of human health and the environment by providing chemical users and handlers with enhanced and consistent information on chemical hazards.
