PDC: Shrinksealer systems provide labeling, tamper-evidence

Operating at 50 to 175 containers/min., PDC International’s re-engineered 65 Series shrinksealer provides shrink sleeve labeling that incorporates full-height body sleeve labels with primary graphics, producing a sleeve label that extends over the cap, with a horizontal perforation for tamper-evident banding around the upper portion of a container and its closure on jars, bottles, and other containers.

65 Series machine’s maximum speed is dependent on package dimensions.  Sleeve diameter range is .375-in. to 3.25-in.(10 - 83 mm).  Sleeve height range is .625-in. to 8 in. (15 - 200 mm).

All 65 Series shrinksealers use PDC's patented blade assemblies.  Manufactured from extreme-service tool steels for maximum wearability, toughness, and edge profile uniformity, they operate dust-free, and prevent the "hairs" that can be produced on spinning knife devices.

The blade assembly decreases downtime and increases intervals between blade replacements. Unlike spinning knives, the blades can be repeatedly sharpened, and most are double-edged. Double-edged blades are reversible, so a single set provides double the value, and both edges can be re-sharpened repeatedly.

Blade assemblies deliver a quality package appearance with fewer rejects, and are compatible with all major sleeving and labeling films, including PVC, PET, PETG, PLA, and OPS. Very thin gauge material (30 to 50 micron, depending on speed and container configuration) can also be used.

Other standard features of the 65 Series include full safety enclosure, heavy-duty mechanical construction, Allen-Bradley PLC control, an HMI Touch Screen, keyed run/jog switch, and upstream photo-eyes.  Systems also have motorized material unwind, and material-out sensors.

Optional system features include barcode scanners, splice detection, imprint verifiers, power transformers, motorized height adjustment, and servo band feed.

The 65 Series uses off-the-shelf components to help keep cost of ownership low throughout the system’s life.  Systems incorporate field-proven controls technology and can be UL certified.
