Harvey Scholarship to SC's Tri-County Technical College

Tri-County Technical College of Pendleton, SC, has been selected to receive the 2014 David A. Harvey Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded during The Automation Conference May 20-21 in Chicago.

The need to produce a workforce that can excel in U.S. manufacturing jobs and careers is a topic that’s being written about and debated with increasing frequency. As experts within academia, industry, and government wrestle with solutions, many communities are already making significant progress. In recognition of their exemplary collaboration with local industry, Summit Media Group has selected Tri-County Technical College, (Pendleton, SC), as the recipient of the 2014 David A. Harvey Memorial Scholarship.

Tri-County is a public community college that supports economic development by preparing a highly skilled workforce for South Carolina’s Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The college provides customized education and training for local businesses and industries through credit and continuing education offerings and workforce training programs. Students can choose from university transfer associate degree programs and applied technical associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in more than 70 majors associated with business, health, public service, and industrial and engineering technologies.

The David A. Harvey Memorial Scholarship is underwritten by Summit Media Group’s Packaging World, Automation World and the sponsors of The Automation Conference. This year’s conference sponsors are: Invensys-Wonderware, Microsoft, Cisco, Bimba Manufacturing Co., Beckhoff Automation, Kepware Technologies, Moxa, Inc., Opto 22, Siemens Industry Inc., Bosch Rexroth Corp., Ethernet POWERLINK Standardization Group, Omron Automation & Safety, B & B Electronics, Parsec Automation Corp., Glide-Line and GE Intelligent Platforms/Industrial Network Systems.

At The Automation Conference, (Chicago, May 20-21), representatives from Tri-County will share best practices for creating a pipeline of highly skilled employees through collaboration with local industry.  Representatives from Schneider Electric and Bosch LLC will co-present. Comments Automation World’s VP/Publisher, Jim Chrzan, “We’re pleased to acknowledge Tri-County’s innovation and success and hope this scholarship makes the journey to a career in manufacturing a little easier for a deserving student.”

The David A. Harvey Memorial Scholarship was established to support future generations of automation professionals with tuition assistance, and was created in memory of the founding publisher of Automation World magazine. Funding for the scholarship comes from Automation World, Packaging World, and the sponsors of The Automation Conference.
