First FSMA rules ready for roll-out

GE will co-sponsor the Food Safety Summit Resource Center at PACK EXPO to help CPGs with compliance.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is scheduled to publish final rules for the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) on Sunday, Aug. 30. With compliance deadlines stretching out one to three years, it's apparent food manufacturers need their food safety questions answered in short order.

To help CPGs comply with FSMA, GE will co-sponsor the Food Safety Summit Resource Center at PACK EXPO Las Vegas (Sept. 28–30, 2015; Las Vegas Convention Center), (Booth S-7632), reports show owner and producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. The Resource Center is owned and produced by the Food Safety Summit. This is the fifth year that the Food Safety Summit Resource Center will be at PACK EXPO, and GE’s second time co-sponsoring the booth.

“PACK EXPO trade shows are where we connect with our customers,” says Katie Moore, global industry manager – manufacturing, GE. “As a sponsor of The Food Safety Summit Resource Center, we’re making GE’s experts available to customers and potential customers, so we can help them solve their compliance challenges.”

The Food Safety Summit Resource Center offers attendees the opportunity to discuss specific food safety challenges, learn more about the latest breakthroughs and gain insight into potential solutions through 30 minute presentations and one-on-one consultations. “By focusing on the software available to assist food manufacturers in FSMA compliance, GE makes a valuable show feature even better,” says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI.

“Having GE on board adds depth to the exhibit by spotlighting solutions for communications and documentation,” Yuska says. “Both are critical to successfully complying with FSMA rules. We’re very pleased GE has returned to sponsor this exhibit.”

In addition to FSMA, food safety issues and solutions, subject matter experts will be on hand to discuss topics including federal & state regulations, environmental monitoring, storage & distribution, active packaging, crisis planning, pest control, traceability, safety & regulation, auditing, food fraud, allergens, sanitation, training, and emerging issues.

You can also find solutions beyond the Food Safety Summit Resource Center at the co-located Pharma EXPO, produced in partnership by PMMI and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). The combined event will feature innovations and answers from 2,000+ exhibitors on 800,000+ net square feet of exhibit space.
