Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico; March 19, 2015 —With nearly 40 percent more exposition space than 2013, attendance grew to more than 11,000 at EXPO PACK Guadalajara 2015 (March 10–12; Expo Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico), according to preliminary data from show producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. With a list of over 300 exhibitors from 20 countries, EXPO PACK Guadalajara was a true international event.

“The show attracted a diverse blend of suppliers and end users,” says Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO of PMMI. “Our second EXPO PACK Guadalajara confirms how important the processing and packaging industry is in Mexico.”

This year's EXPO PACK Guadalajara expanded its reach, not only bringing more attendees from the State of Jalisco but also from the surrounding Northern and Bajío states.

Exhibitors were well aware of the unique opportunities provided by face-to-face time with these customers. Pro Mach, which sponsored the 2013 debut, as well as the 2015 edition, continues to find success at EXPO PACK events.

“Pro Mach tailored its exhibits at Guadalajara to meet the developing markets in Western Mexico,” says John Eklund, vice president, marketing, Pro Mach. “The machinery we bring to Guadalajara is aimed at the small or medium-size companies looking to move from manual to semi-automatic or semi-automatic to fully automatic equipment.”

EXPO PACK Guadalajara marked the debut show for Gerardo Barajas, director of EXPO PACK events in Guadalajara and Mexico City, and he echoed Eklund’s sentiments about the need for machinery suppliers in the region. Barajas highlighted the opportunities for small, medium and large companies from the laundry list of industries that have made the state of Jalisco a dynamic region.

“Food and beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and personal care, graphic arts, chemicals, household cleaners, textiles, footwear, electronic, and automotive are just some of the industries driving the development of this region,” says Barajas.

Regardless of market segment, both attendees and exhibitors praised the show from set-up and ease of registration to the variety of offerings at the Innovation Stage.

Eight associations endorsed EXPO PACK Guadalajara: the Chamber of Food Industry of Jalisco (CIAJ), the National Chamber of Industry Canned Food (CANAINCA), the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Jalisco (CICEJ), the Chamber of Commerce of Guadalajara, the Regional Chamber of Industry Transformation of the State of Jalisco (CAREINTRA), the National Chamber of Industry of Graphic Arts Jalisco (CANAGRAF Jalisco), the Association National Chemical Industry (ANIQ), and the Mexican Packaging Association (AMEE).

With EXPO PACK Guadalajara in the rearview mirror, PMMI turns its attention to EXPO PACK México 2015 (June 16-19; Centro Banamex, Mexico City). The 30th anniversary show is expected to host over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 28,000 attendees from Latin America. Registration for attendees is open at www.expopack.com.mx.
