The machine made unitizing practical, affordable, and safe for many products. It also allowed bags, buckets, cartons, and building materials to be secured on a pallet for truck shipment, rather than floor-stacked, strapped to a pallet, or shrink-bagged on a pallet. Lantech was also the first to automate stretch wrapping so it could be integrated with a palletizer. CEO Jim Lancaster owns the independent company. He is the son of founder Pat Lancaster, who is chairman and a product development consultant to the company.
