Siemens: Efficient motion control system

Siemens has updated its Simotion motion control system to version 4.4, offering users many new functions that make the engineering of motion control projects even easier and more efficient; applications such as packaging, can be quickly, easily and efficiently engineered, configured and commissioned through the Siemens TIA Portal.

The link between new Simatic HMI (Human Machine Interface) panels and Simotion has also been implemented.

Within TIA Portal, a wide range of motion control functionalities can be used intuitively and quickly through the innovative graphical user interface. Users will benefit from a full graphical configuration of hardware and networks. All parameters can be selected and modified by the click of a mouse.

In network view, additional automation components, such as the HMI or Sinamics drives, can be connected to Simotion. New Simatic HMI panels can also be operated with the Simotion motion control system — existing panels can simply be replaced by the new, high-resolution, user-friendly, second generation basic panels and comfort panels.

With the new version of Simotion and the integration of the easyProject project generator in Simotion Scout, users can even configure complex production machines in an easy-to-handle and standardized manner. New software modules for different industries and applications are available to help users implement their projects quickly and easily.

Standardized, intuitive user guidance enables modules to be integrated quickly and easily into existing or new projects. This means that a large part of the application just needs to be configured — it no longer requires time-consuming programming. Not only does this speed up engineering, but it greatly reduces the possibility for errors.
