Our past surveys on networking and data collection asked yes/no questions. But that doesn’t do a good job reflecting the variability each company may experience from line to line. Sure, many respondents may collect packaging line data, but on how many lines and by which method? Similarly, we wanted to know not just whether respondents’ lines were networked, but how many lines were networked and to what extent.
By asking respondents to answer in this manner, we were able to obtain a much more precise picture of what’s going on in the field when it comes to data acquisition and information integration.
