A twist on concentrated cleaner packaging

Last month, SC Johnson introduced a new take on concentrated cleaning solutions, with the All-In-One Cleaning System. The company says that the system was created to help consumers clean more efficiently and effectively by choosing three of their five favorite cleaners to dock at one time in a simple, lightweight sprayer that adds the water. According to SC Johnson, as busy lifestyles evolve, families are looking for products that help them do more with less and are drastically reducing the time they spend on cleaning. In fact, women spent nine hours less each week cleaning in 2005 than in 1975, a 2009 University of Michigan Institute of Social Research study reveals.

Among the sustainability advantages of the new system, each concentrated cleaner cartridge is said to use 64% less plastic than a standard-sized 26-oz bottle and is made of 25% post-consumer plastic. In addition, more than 75% fewer trucks are needed to ship the cleaner cartridges versus standard bottles.

This new tool is said to make cleaning the whole home faster, easier, and more efficient by removing the hassle of carrying around numerous bulky cleaning supplies. Now, consumers can move seamlessly from room-to-room and surface-to-surface, switching instantly among a selection of SC Johnson cleaners, including Windex, fantastik, Scrubbing Bubbles, Pledge, and Shout Carpet with just a simple twist.

How it works

The SC Johnson All-In-One Cleaning System is designed to hold up to three concentrated cleaner cartridges at once in a single handheld sprayer. To use, consumers fill the tank of the sprayer with water, remove the foil lids from each of the concentrate containers, snap three of the concentrate containers into place on the carousel of the sprayer, and then twist the carousel until the desired cleaner is in the front position. Each cartridge has its own spray nozzle, so cleaning formulas won’t mix.

Says SC Johnson, the design gives consumers the ability to save precious space and get rid of cleaning clutter. Additionally, the compact design makes it convenient to store in multiple places around the home to keep within quick reach when needed.

“Consumers today trust the same products that their mothers did—but they don’t clean the same way. Given today’s busy schedules, there simply isn’t time to be tied down by old techniques that haven’t evolved,” says Kelly M. Semrau, senior vice president – Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability for SC Johnson. “SC Johnson is committed to providing revolutionary tools designed to make life simpler and easier for busy families.”
