Machinery receives 'heavy' emphasis at Pack Expo West (sidebar)

Links with Asian processors

As part of IEFP's appeal to food processors in Asia, the Food Processing Machinery & Supplies Assn. is launching an Environmental Partnerships Program at the Las Vegas show. The goal is to match Asian food processors with U.S. manufacturers that can provide environmentally clean technologies. The program will bring a large contingent of screened Asian purchasers to IEFP in Las Vegas. In addition, FPM&SA will put together an Environmental Maintenance & Sanitation Showcase, including more than 15 suppliers. A special seminar series on environmentally clean technologies is also planned, led by industry expert Eugene Carawan. The program operates with the cooperation of the U.S. Agency for International Development. "Asian food processors recognize the need to employ these technologies," says Sasha Helfand, FPM&SA director of international programs. "In many cases these processors are setting up new plants and want to get it right the first time."
