New biz director for Technical Help in Engineering and Marketing

Flexible packaging pro Tobin J. Haas named director of new biz for the packaging system and co-pack services provider.

Technical Help in Engineering and Marketing (T.H.E.M.), Marlton, NJ-based provider of single-serve flexible packaging solutions and contract packaging services, appointed Tobin J. Haas its new director of business development. He will be responsible for introducing North American consumer brands to Sanko form-fill-sealing packaging machinery systems, which are designed to accommodate a dry powder, liquid and paste formulations in single-serve flexible stick and sachet formats. T.H.E.M. is the exclusive North American representative for Sanko Machinery Co., which T.H.E.M. reports to be the largest manufacturer of stick packaging machinery in the world.

Haas brings more than 20 years of senior management experience to his new role, having worked with flexible packaging companies including Ampac Packaging and Kapac Corporation (acquired by Ampac).

In announcing Hass' hire, Neil Kozarsky, CEO and president of T.H.E.M., noted Haas' "caliber and deep expertise," adding: “His extensive flexible packaging knowledge and proven capabilities in helping develop fully integrated solutions for major brands make him an ideal fit for T.H.E.M." The CEO continued to note "a steadily growing interest in North America for single-serve liquid products" among North American brands and consumers. The Sanko relationship is geared toward meeting that interest.

The company's New Jersey facility also provides contract manufacturing and packaging services for flexible stick packs, pouches and other single-use flexible packaging formats for food and beverage, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and energy supplements. The facility's form-fill-sealing operations accommodate both liquid and dry products, and are designed to take customers from initial trial run, to scale-up, to full commercial production, in addition to supporting product line extensions and limited edition offerings. T.H.E.M.’s facility is FDA-registered, Kosher and USDA Organic certified, and also certified to package dietary supplements. Recently the plant obtained Safety Quality Food (SQF) Level 2 Certification. In addition to p.ackaging machinery and contract packaging, the company also provides comprehensive R&D and engineering support services.
