Based on the success of its 1.75-L bottles of spirits in PET bottles, Brown-Forman Corp., Louisville, KY, is now making available its Canadian Mist, Early Times and Southern Comfort products in new 750-mL bottles of PET, made by Amcor PET Packaging. The launch of the new bottles began early this year.

Deutsch Design Works recently won Double Gold Medals for packaging design at the 2004 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The award-winning design for Shakers Rose Vodka, Shakers Rye Vodka, and Shakers Original American Vodka in 200-ml and 700-ml sizes consists of a frosted glass bottle with a penguin icon.

Calorie and carb claims on spirits
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau issued guidance on calorie and carbohydrate claims in advertising and labeling of alcoholic beverages. TTB wants to ensure that consumers are not mislead by labeling statements that give only a partial picture of the health effects of consuming alcohol.
