Valve Sensing and Control Units

The Alfa Laval ThinkTop V50 and V70 promotes an auto setup feature.

Alfa Laval, a provider of specialized products and engineering systems, has released a next version of the Alfa Laval ThinkTop, which is the company’s valve sensing and control unit for hygienic valves used in the dairy, food, beverage, brewery, and pharmaceutical industries. The Alfa Laval ThinkTop V50 and V70, the second-generation of control units, have been reengineered to meet customer needs while incorporating advances in technology.

The added auto setup feature is meant to offer manufacturers quicker, easier commissioning—up to 90% faster than the previous generation, according to the company. They further say that the live setup feature coupled with true valve recognition is designed to ensure the right match during any-and-all setups.

ThinkTop V50 and V70 are made to fit on any Alfa Laval valve for retrofit purposes. What’s more, it is smart. It features 24/7 self-diagnostics, meant for checking and remedying operations when required, and an enhanced 360° LED visual status indication so that operators can see the valve status no matter where they are on the production floor.

This version of ThinkTop has the same dependability as the first generation, though the company has repositioned the Gore Vent which should make the ThinkTop more durable and more reliable than before, equalizing the enclosure pressure in the unit while reducing the risk of water ingress.

The product’s industrial exterior is minimalistic, with its strict lines, no cover screws, and geometry. This exterior is made to be 30% more compact than the previous version yet has the same height, so that this version can be suitable for tight installations. Inside one sensor target control board packed with functionality is designed to handle all valve functions and communication without the need of an adapter.

A burst of CIP liquid has been incorporated to go off during the opening moment of seat lift and seat push. These valve activations are meant to reduce water consumption during Cleaning-in-Place and save in cleaning agent costs.

The Alfa Laval ThinkTop V50 and V70 series are selected based on the number of solenoid valves required. The ThinkTop V50 series is designed to matche the requirements of the Alfa Laval DV-ST, butterfly, single seat and double seal valves while the ThinkTop V70 series is made to match all of these valves plusthe requirements of the Alfa Laval double seat and special valves.

In addition, the Alfa Laval ThinkTop V50 and V70 meet the protection class IP66, IP67, and IP69K.
