A recent article from Cincinnatti.com noted the recall of anti-diabetes medication found to contain a cancer-causing compound. The drug is metformin, and it’s used to treat type 2 diabetes under the brand names Fortamet, Glucophage, Glucophage XR, Glumetza, and Riomet.
Last week, both Marksans Pharma and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries issued voluntary recalls, but they’re not the first companies to do so. Back in May, the FDA released an alert stating that agency laboratory testing revealed levels of NDMA above the acceptable levels.
