(CTFA), the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Assn. The program helps women cancer patients regain self-esteem by overcoming the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy.
Hazen Paper Co. (Holyoke, MA) has coordinated this project since its inception in 1997. This year, Hazen worked with Diamond Packaging (Rochester, NY), MeadWestvaco (Stamford, CT) and Flutes, LLC (Indianapolis, IN) to develop a castle-top, auto-bottom container with integral handle to hold a variety of products donated by leading companies in the cosmetics business.
MeadWestvaco donated the 12-pt Printcoat SBS board to which Hazen applies a white pearlescent aqueous coating. Diamond prints the board offset in four colors before it’s laminated to e-flute corrugated by Flutes. The laminate then returns to Diamond for converting into the folded and glued cartons that are sent to the CTFA warehouse for filling.
“The kit box is truly the icing on the cake!” says Carolyn Deaver, vice president of the Look Good...Feel Better Foundation. “When women cancer patients sit down at a group LGFB session and see the beautiful box containing donated cosmetics, they are thrilled.” —AO
