A can’s distinctive snap and fizz is music to the ears of its fans, and now the components behind its characteristic sound offer a bright and unexpected twist to modern packaging. Ball’s new range of colored shells and matching tabs are value-added solutions developed to further brand visibility and to add an extra “pop” off the shelf.

Beyond the existing range of gold, silver, and black colored shells, new hues to the family include orange, pink, blue, green, and yellow—all commercially available for end diameters 200 and 202. To even further the can’s on-shelf appeal, Ball has added four new colors to its tabs by way of yellow, green, orange, and magenta.

“Ball receives regular requests for colored shells and tabs outside its standard portfolio,” says Antti Laakkonen, Business Manager (Product) at Ball Packaging Europe. “As we listen closely to our customers, we are happy to expand our existing range to further the appeal of the can and its engagement with consumers.”

Ball worked very closely with existing customers to realize these new color introductions and welcomes the opportunity to expand the range even further. As part of the can’s 360-degree design options, the colored shells effectively help carry brand messages.

“Beverage manufacturers appreciate the variety offered with the new colored ends in an increasingly fierce marketplace,” Laakkonen points out. “With consumers constantly on the lookout for new and exciting products, it is vital for brands to make a lasting mark at point-of-sale.”
