This Web-based survey, conducted on Packworld.com from November 29, 2001 to January 9, 2002, drew 95 qualified responses. Only responses from packaging end users were tabulated; nonqualified responses were discarded. Respondents work in a variety of industries, the largest including food (24%), nonfood consumer products (18%), industrial products (14%), beverage (13%), cosmetics (11%), and medical/ pharmaceutical (10%). Their job duties were largely centered around engineering, purchasing, management and packaging. Other departments represented included production, marketing, and maintenance. A balanced range of company sizes was represented, including companies employing up to 100 employees, 39%; 101 to 500 employees, 25%; and 501 or more employees, 36%. Geographically, the sampling was distributed fairly equally across the United States.
