He expects many of these products to reach store shelves this year and next.
ScentSational reports that it was named by flexible packaging manufacturer Pliant Corp. as the sole provider of olfaction packaging technologies to assist in developing field ration packs for the U.S. military. In this instance, CompelAroma is being evaluated within Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) plastic packaging where the aromas would help improve product taste.
In August 2003, Wired magazine reported that the Natick Soldier Center was involved in an effort called “Active Package Olfaction to Increase Soldier Acceptance of Field Rations” to see if embedding aromas into food packaging would make soldiers more likely to eat their MREs and be better able to carry out their tours of duty in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
