While some labels are well-intentioned, many
labels can mislead consumers, nutritionists say, and can cause health
risks for some. The muddle of private icons, graphics and categories
should be replaced with a single, FDA-sanctioned certification program.

red/yellow/green light icon, similar to one introduced in the United
Kingdom, has been suggested as a simple, recognizable standard.
