Yogurt and sour milk products drive robust packaging growth in Asia Pacific through 2020

Chinese and Indian consumers push demand for plain yogurt, with expanding distribution to support growth. A new study from PMMI Business Intelligence charts global packaging growth by region.

Drinking yogurt is most dynamic category in India with growth in shaped liquid cartons (predominant package type) correlating strongly.

Plain yogurt is expected to see 26% compound annual growth through 2020 in China and 16% in India. Flexible packaging is not a popular package type, but will experience solid growth through 2020.

Euromonitor International, who produced the study for PMMI Business Intelligence, compiles data points and qualitative analysis for 80 countries. Markets include Beauty and Personal Care, Beverages, Dog and Cat Food, Home Care and Packaged Food. Both primary and secondary retail packages are studied, including internet sales.
