Printpack mourns the passing of Jim Greco

Printpack is mourning the passing of James J. "Jim" Greco, one of its long time leaders, who died on June 21, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 74 years old.

Jim Greco retired from Printpack in June of 2013 after more than forty years of distinguished service in a wide range of leadership roles at Printpack.

Greco graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965 with a Mechanical Engineering degree and joined Hercules Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware. As a salesman of one of the newest products at the time, polypropylene film, Greco was on the leading edge of a new wave of growth in the flexible packaging industry. Printpack was one of his customers. He met Printpack's founder, Erskine Love, who convinced Greco to come sell for, instead of selling to, Printpack, and a very long term career began in 1971.

Greco personified professional salesmanship and integrity at Printpack, and he rose through the ranks to numerous leadership positions within the company over a forty-two year career. He headed up Printpack's first northeastern US sales office in 1974, and developed some of Printpack's longest standing customers. He moved to Atlanta in 1981 to lead Printpack's sales organization. Later on, Greco took responsibility for servicing Printpack's largest customer, and later became General Manager of Printpack's largest US flexible packaging division, a position he held until his retirement in 2013.

Greco was known for his sharp mind, his keen intellect and quick wit, and his infectious sense of humor. He built and developed deep and enduring customer relationships, and he was an exemplary teacher, role model, and mentor for so many at Printpack who followed him.

"From the earliest days of my career at Printpack, Jim was a mentor to me as a role model for respected and professional salesmanship, a hallmark of Printpack since its founding. He was a dynamic and passionate individual whose opinion I always sought out and respected. Jim was a ‘true blue’ Printpack leader who will be sorely missed by all who knew him," says Dennis Love, former Chairman and CEO of Printpack.
