Artists enlisted for fast casual stir-fry boxes

Honeygrow’s original stir-fry container is back at all its locations with a custom design by Philly-based street artist and a call to local artists to design boxes throughout the year.

To celebrate its sixth anniversary, fast casual concept restaurant honeygrow® has reintroduced what it calls its “iconic” original stir-fry container. To further support its mission to nourish creativity in the communities it calls home, the brand is looking to engage a different artist in each of its markets—including the greater Philadelphia region, Washington D.C./Baltimore, New York City metro, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Chicago—to bring a fresh design to the boxes several times throughout the year. The effort echoes the brand’s commitment to tapping local artists to design murals in their locations across the country. Beginning with custom artwork by Philadelphia-based street artist Amberella, the first in a rotating series of designs features her signature “Goth Heart” with a powerful message of “YOU GOT THIS” emblazoned on the side of the container.

The limited run of stir-fry containers will be available for several months in summer 2018 as honeygrow works on curating an artist for the next line in the series. Any artists who are interested in submitting a box design are encouraged to reach out via honeygrow’s social media channels (@honeygrow on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook).

“The YOU GOT THIS Power Heart felt like the perfect fit for the stir-fry box. Not only as a literal comment about your delicious honeygrow in hand, but also as a positive affirmation that walks out the door with you for the rest of the day,” says Amberella on the design and message of the boxes.

Says honeygrow Founder and CEO Justin Rosenberg, “I’ve long admired Amberella’s work on walls, tunnels, and alleys. It’s amazing how her art subtly touches the entire city with simplicity and boldness in both message and design, typically inspired by perseverance. We’re looking forward to sharing her message with our honeygrow family while journeying around the country to find artists for the series.”

This is not the first time honeygrow has collaborated with Amberella. She has completed a series of murals featuring her Goth Heart designs on the side of honeygrow’s Fishtown, PA, headquarters as part of its Front Street Walls mural project. Her current mural design, CONQUER, is a collaboration between with well-known street artist, GlossBlack. Front Street Walls consists of 10 walls which rotate semi-regularly, offering a different local artist a large-scale canvas to display their work.
