Outsourcing pavilion new at Pack Expo Las Vegas 99
To address the nearly 56% of companies using one or more contract packagers, PMMI's third western show, held Oct. 18 to 20, will feature an Outsourcing Resource Pavilion.
For the first time attendees at Pack Expo Las Vegas 99 (formerly Pack Expo West) will have a chance to peruse an Outsourcing Resource Pavilion when the show opens at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Sponsored by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (Arlington VA) the show runs Oct. 18 to 20. As in 1997 the show runs concurrent with the International Exposition for Food Processors sponsored by the Food Processing Machinery & Supplies Assn. (Alexandria VA) also held at the Sands. This year's Pack Expo Las Vegas is building on the success of the last two shows. PMMI estimates that nearly 15 visitors will attend with more than 600 exhibitors located in a 300 sq' area. The IEFP adds another 300 exhibitors and covers 100 sq'. One registration admits visitors to both shows which will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. To help attendees prepare for the show PMMI offers an informative Web site www. packexpo.com. The Web site includes hotel and airline details and also allows booking of hotel rooms and flights. Participants also can register for the show and pay related fees on-line. Included on the Web site is a complete overview of the Solutions 99 (see Packaging World Sept. '99 p. 70 or packworld.com/go/solutions99) workshop so browsers can decide in advance what workshops will be especially useful to them. A product locator with an interactive floor plan is also a new feature on the Web site. Visitors can "zoom" to the exact booth location of the supplier they need to see. An IEFP link also lets attendees preplan their visits to that show. Another addition this year is the Latin American Food Industry Export Seminar on Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jorge Izquierdo managing director of PMMI Latinoam/rica M/xico will speak about The Latin American food industry today: Market review and update. James Boney of the U.S. Department of Commerce says "With the concerted effort of both PMMI and the DOC we hope to meet and exceed attendance goals for Pack Expo Las Vegas 99 and foster export relationships between international attendees and suppliers."
Despite the packaging emphasis attendees will find it hard to forget they are in one of the entertainment capitals of the world. Visitors can attend shows and concerts enjoy the many casinos or dine in fine restaurants.
