FPA recognizes flexible achievements
(Washington DC) earlier this month. Formerly known as the Top Packaging Awards the redesigned Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards recognized flexible packaging in four categories: Packaging Excellence Technical Innovation Printing Achievement and Environmental Achievement.
Developed by United Signature Foods LLC Northbrook IL the Jewel Foods soup pouch structure is made by Alcan-Lawson Mardon North America (Northbrook IL). The 5.5- mil material is a coextrusion of polyester and ethylene vinyl alcohol flexo-printed in eight colors.
Like the pouch the HD-Series industrial packaging material also won the Highest Achievement Award. Designed to provide oxygen and water vapor barrier as well as puncture- and tear-resistance the material was developed by Cadillac Products Packaging (Dallas GA). Currently the material is used to cover military jet engines in storage and for welding and soldering component packaging. (JB)
