Package design and brand identity firm Libby Perszyk Kathman (Cincinnati OH) predicted packaging trends they foresee for the coming year. Among them: * More novelty beer packaging spurred by the Coors baseball bat bottle (see Packaging World May '96 p. 8). * Increased shelf presence of products formerly kept in back rooms such as home computers electronics and automotive products. This will require better package design on corrugated cartons. * Less secondary packaging in consumer products including health & beauty products as environmental issues continue to affect packaging.
