Pacific Wine Partners: A new vintage
Black Box Wines uses inside-the-box thinking to redefine packaging for super-premium wines in the United States.
Walnut Creek, CA-based marketer Black Box Wines introduced last year a 2001 Napa Valley Chardonnay in 3-L bag-in-box packaging that it calls America's first super-premium boxed wine.

The new 54-valve Italian-made Bertolaso gravity-flow vacuum filler from ColloPack Solutions yields faster speeds--typically 180 bottles/min--and less waste. After they are corked, the tapered bottles travel on the first of Pacific Wine's ÒsmartÓ accumulation tables from Garvey.
Positioned ahead of and as the infeed and laner to the case packer, the downstream Garvey accumulation system provides up to three minutes’ accumulation. Before, an operator had been positioned here to upright downed bottles. With ""smart"" accumulation, PWP reports higher efficiencies and no label damage.
