New case packer eliminates bottleneck
Lakewood, NY-based Southern Tier Brewing discovered that its case packer was creating a production bottleneck, and last June, installed a 939EZ Versatron system from Standard-Knapp. The machine is specifically designed to combine proven and reliable case packing technology in an affordable package. The result? Production has gone up by 30%...
Secondary packaging done offline at Carlsberg
At breweries, maximum efficiency of in-line packaging lines can only be reached when they’re working with standard-size packages, crates, and pallets. Deviation in these sizes can make many packaging shapes impossible to handle in-line. Carlsberg Germany creates offline center for secondary packaging of nonstandard packaging formats, replacing manual packing and increasing output to 14,400 bottles/hr.
Dynamic changes in robotic packaging applications
“Robotics got their start in palletizing,” says report author Donna Ritson, President, DDR Communications. “Now they’re coming up to the front of the line, for processing and depalletizing.” New jobs, greater safety, and increased productivity are just some benefits cited in a study by PMMI, “Trends in Robotics Market Assessment 2014.”
A stabilizing solution
Unlike pallet shipments of heavy case goods in stable cases, shrink wrapped trays of bottled water only have contact at the bottle top. Premium Waters’ Chippewa Falls WI, solved the problem with a pallet stabilizing system that eliminates shrink wrap trays while reducing rework and stretch film use.
Cancer diagnostics firm automates bottle filling, capping, labeling
Dako, an Agilent Technologies company with U.S. facilities in Carpinteria, CA, replaced semi-automatic and manual filling, capping, and labeling processes a new, compact robotic bottling system that frees vital floor space, increases speed and reduces labor costs in filling different bottle shapes and sizes with no mechanical setup between production runs.
Automated packaging solution upgrades e-commerce efficiencies
PetCareRx, Lynbrook, NY, is a full-service pet pharmacy and pet supply provider doing business via e-commerce and mail order. The company recently eliminated manual operations by installing a fast, new wraparound casing system specifically suited to their need for protective corrugated containers.
