Coregistics adds sixth location in Cleveland
Atlanta-based Coregistics has opened a sixth facility in Cleveland, Ohio. Since its formation in 2011, and under the guidance of CEO Eric Wilhelm, the packaging-focused supply chain services company has grown with key customer wins and acquisitions including last spring's acquisition of co-packer Cano Packaging, a food and confectionery primary packaging specialist based in the Chicago area. The new facility in Cleveland adds approximately 100,000 square feet to the company's operations.
Robotic cartoning adds efficiency, subtracts labor costs
In its Levis, Canada hometown near Quebec City, Pharmalab Inc. found low unemployment rates a challenge to securing qualified personnel. To help cope with that challenge at its 100,000-sq-ft facility, the contract manufacturer of natural health, pharmaceutical/nutraceutical products and food supplements switched from manual to robot cartoning with five new, automated machines that solved labor problems and boosted efficiency.
New people & industry kudos for 3PL-er Kane is Able
Third-party logistics provider Kane Is Able, Scranton, PA, this month announced that 30-year logistics veteran Ed Shoemaker has been named senior director of operations with responsibility for operations at 12 U.S. distribution facilities. This followed news that Brian Glasgow was tapped as director of operations across six distribution centers; and that the company had gained kudos from three supply chain-related trade press outlets.
John Mazelin takes helm at Contract Packaging Association
The Contract Packaging Association (CPA) named John Mazelin as its new executive director. Mazelin has served on CPA’s Board of Directors since 1997. He currently serves as vice president of business development for the The B4B Alliance, Louisville, KY, which owns contract packaging, 3PL and material supply companies.
